Axemunkee released it’s debut album, Sidewalk Mary, in 2008 to critical acclaim. One of the album’s songs, the Capozzi original “Acid Django” has been featured multiple times in the History Channel’s hit program, American Pickers, and was a first-ballot nominee for the 2009 Grammy awards in the Best Rock Instrumental Performance category. Another track from that album, “Dali’s Dark Dream,” received airplay on legendary rock critic Dave Marsh’s national radio program, Kick Out the Jams, on Sirius Satellite Radio.

Vortex, release in 2011, features six new originals by Capozzi, as well as four covers, including a breakneck electric version of Django Reinhardt’s “Minor Swing” and a twisted take on the theme from Love Story (“Whacked Out Love Story”).

The album showcases the full scope of Capozzi’s guitar artistry, from classical acoustic picking to full-blown, rock-goddess shredding, sometimes within a single piece. The record’s sonic spectrum ranges from neo-Gypsy jazz and electric swing to majestic psychedelia and searing progressive rock.
